Wedding Day Hearts

I had some left over cookie dough from making Kathy's birthday basket this weekend and wanted to try out something new, but useful, something that I could see myself making use of in the future.  Therefore I decided to play around with creating some Wedding Day cookies.  The heart shaped bride and groom cookies are cookies I've been looking forward to making for a while now.  I saw a couple of other bakers using this concept online and wanted to give it a try.   I've used the cake cookie cutter for birthdays in the past and threw them in as wedding cakes for this batch of cookies to create some variety and the ability to play around with different basket grouping ideas.  All in all I was happy with my first attempt at this design and I can see myself using these groupings for center pieces in the future : )

Hello Kitty 23rd Birthday Party

I created and blended together two unique cookie bouquet themes for a birthday party this weekend.  One set is a tribute to Hello Kitty and the other is a traditional "Party" birthday basket.  I was a bit nervous about using my new Hello Kitty cutters because there was a lot of detail to consider to make them look nice and I've had issues in the past with detailing while using a #3 cake tip.   This time however by using a #1 cake tip I noticed a drastic change in my ability to keep the details under control and I'm pretty happy with my first attempt.  I really like the pieces for the second basket individually - as a whole not so really pleased.  The margarita glasses came with a summer cookie cutter set I just bought this month on sale and the rest are cutters I've used on projects in the past.  All in all pretty please with the way tonights work turned out : )

Baby Steps

Another friend of mine is getting ready to add a new addition to their family - a baby girl.  I was honored to be asked to make cookies and a cake for the shower.  I'll be honest, the cookies were no big deal - but the cake scared me to death --- I've never tampered with the world of cakes before.  Below you'll find the 40 cookies I made (37 of them made it to the shower after the boyfriend got a hold of them)  and my first attempt at cake decorating - I've a lot to learn : )
